Appreciate this lovely article, Vern. Would like to see Kathryn Bigelow do the morally ambiguous action-flick adaptation.

As for the title - it's called "die hard" because that expression also means someone who's an obstinate devotee of something. McClane won't give up, he's a die-hard. Also the obvious death pun.

Vern,

While I appreciate what you are trying to do here and the time you have committed to it, you are not a good writer, nor are you a very good editor of your own work. Poor grammar, typos and misspells abound on this page alone.

Either take some classes on English and/or writing or stop calling yourself an expert.

Sorry.

Hi. My name is hamslime. You may remember me from previous posts such as: The Expendables, Piranha 3D, or the wildly popular potpourri. but today I'd like to talk to you about something that I think is on all of our minds during this tough economy...Swollen feet.

It's a common suggestion that you put an ice pack on a body part that has been injured and/or swollen but I've never found that to be particularly effective. Mostly because ice packs can be cumbersome and if you use ice cubes wrapped in a towel the edges of the ice cubes tend to poke at your injury which usually seems to irritate it more. If you have an injury in your foot then it becomes even more cumbersome.

This is why I came up with the idea of the Frozen Sock. It's an ice pack in the shape of a sock that you keep in the freezer and if you have an injury, just slip it on, kick your feet up, and relax.

Now you don't have to take yoga classes to be able to contort yourself in pretzel-like positions to get relief! Let's hear from some of our satisfied customers.

"I hurt my foot, but now with the Ice Sock thingy, my foot is cold too." - Randall Colton

"I forgot to put it in the freezer when I bought it. It hurts so bad." - Stacy Chadwick

"This doesn't fit on my head. I'm getting dizzy." - Albert Runyan

With my new product you will never have swollen feet at room temperature again! Order now and we'll send you a free Frozen Glove. THAT'S AN $80.00 VALUE ABSOLUTELY FREE!!!

But wait. That's not all! As part of our Baby Safety Month extravaganza you also receive three Frozen Sock beer koozies just for calling! That's right! You don't even have to place an order and you will receive three FREE Frozen Sock beer koozies!

"These koozies are great! It gave me a reason to start drinking again. And during Baby Safety Month no less! I can't thank you enough Frozen Sock company inc." - Ted Tedelstien

No. Thank YOU Ted!

And if YOU want to fell the relief of cold swollen feet you can now check us out online at http://www.righthealth.com/Health/Swollen%20Calf-s?lid=yhoo-ads-sb-9842312674

Due to my DIE HARD love (I like all four movies, even the ones that the geeks always complain about -- i.e., every one except the first), I bought copies of THE DETECTIVE and NOTHING LASTS FOREVER off eBay awhile back.

I gave up on THE DETECTIVE less than halfway through. Is there any reason for any detective novel to be as thick as a phone book? Christ. Not to mention it was nothing like DIE HARD. NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, on the other hand, I loved.

If I had to pick whether DIE HARD or FOREVER is superior, I guess my kneejerk reaction would be DIE HARD, but they're both great, and I think they complement each other pretty well. FOREVER is DIE HARD: The Serious Version, and DIE HARD is NOTHING LASTS FOREVER: The Fun Summer Action Movie Version. Two sides of the same coin.

I also got a copy of 58 MINUTES, a.k.a. The Book That Became DIE HARD 2 Even Though It Isn't a Goddamned Thing Like It. Really, the only similarity is the basic premise. And it's not as interesting as DIE HARD 2 since the main character is some kind of perfect supercop (he's even Aryan, disturbingly) instead of the Average Joe cop in the wrong place at the wrong time who steps up and kicks everyone's ass even though he would rather let someone else do it and gets some scars and bloody clothes along the way to prove he did it.
