Attention comic conners

tn_blackdynamiteRemember that movie BLACK DYNAMITE that I liked so much? Writer/director Scott Sanders dropped a line to let us know that he and Mr. UNDISPUTED II: LAST MAN STANDING himself Michael Jai White will be over there at the comic strip festival in San Diego playing “a new never-before-seen clip” at some of the panels:

The Black Panel
Saturday, July 25, 10:00 AM /  5AB
Featuring Ludacris, Kel Mitchell, Prodigal Sunn, Reggie Hudlin, Denys Cowan and Michael Jai White

The Black DYNAMITE Panel

Sorry, no SPAWN 12th anniversary retrospective I guess.
BLACK DYNAMITE comes out October 16th of this year.

  1. Vern, you’ve gotta somehow nail down a fucking interview with Spawn himself some time.

Would love to read that, and your questions that you would ask him…and not the usual AICN trite bullshit where the interviewer is more interested in showing off his smarts than actually getting shit from the subject.

At least, it wouldn’t be boring.

  2. #1 question: What the fuck was Quentin smoking when he cut your scene out of Kill Bill?

  3. Kel Mitchell??? Holy Fuck. I always thought it was an injustice that the guy who gave one of the strongest, most committed comedic performances of the 90s in Good Burger disappeared into KFC commercials and obscurity. Meanwhile Kenan Thompson who basically played “humorless straight man” gets a weekly gig on SNL. If anyone deserves a Rourke-like comeback it’s Mitchell.

  4. No offense, but being on SNL isn’t that much of a big honor anymore.

I mean who was the last superstar to come from there recently besides Will Ferrell?

I mean Jimmy Fallon replaced Conan, same program run by the SNL producers. And does Tina Fey count if her breakout flag program is run on the same network? Not bitching at her accomplishments, just a question.

But yeah I remember Mitchell in MYSTERY MEN, that superhero “comedy” which is about as funny as it wasn’t…but he was good. I mean its a stupid gag about a kid who can go invisible when nobody is watching him, yet he pulls it off. Good job dude.

In short, he’s better than Fat Albert.

  5. Damn, can’t wait for ‘Black Dynamite’. Looks brilliant.

Anyone heard of the 70s horror homage ‘The Minstrel Killer’? Looks like another good exploitation throwback.
